Bio

Joy Parsons was born and raised in Kenora, Ontario, and lived in Calgary, AB, Thunder Bay, ON and Bristol, UK.She has her Bachelor of Arts /Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University.

Joy has always been an artist, in her own words, “becoming an artist was not a decision made, but instead a path followed”. Whether on Lake of the Woods or travelling through other destinations, she is forever inspired by the aesthetics of and experiences in her surroundings. Although, she works mainly with paint, she is not limited to one medium and never stops exploring new materials. She is always in an act of exploration while making digital art, ceramics, sculpture, jewelery, clothing, paintings or other expression of creativity. When she creates she strives for a balance of intuitive action and analytical thought. She writes, “When I work I let go of all inhibition, embracing intuition and random action. I step back to critically assess the state of my progress, and then repeat this cycle. Through this process I birth creations with an evolving style, reflective of my growth“.
